Overview:
Focus: FEA, thermal cycling, fatigue life, creep, stress modeling.
Responsible for performing detailed finite element simulations to predict life, deformation, and failure modes of high-temperature systems under thermal cycling and high stress.
Qualifications:
- Required
- B.S./M.S./Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or Structural Engineering
- 5+ years in advanced FEA for thermal-mechanical systems
- Expert in:
- ANSYS, Abaqus, COMSOL, or equivalent
- Coupled thermal-structural simulations
- Nonlinear material models (plasticity, creep, viscoplasticity)
- Transient thermal cycling and temperature gradients
- Experience with:
- Low-cycle & high-cycle fatigue
- Creep-fatigue interaction and ratcheting
- Life prediction methods (ASME Div 2 Part 5, strain-life models, Paris Law)
- Ability to correlate analysis results to test data
- Strong Python/MATLAB capabilities for custom post-processing
- Preferred
- API 579 / ASME Fitness-for-Service
- Probabilistic life modeling (Monte Carlo, RBDO)
- CFD-coupled thermal analysis
- PE License
